De brand in Reuvers Sportsociëteit aan de Bradleystraat brak rond 20:50 uur uit, zegt de brandweer. Het was toen nog niet bekend of er nog mensen in de sportschool aanwezig waren. Volgens de Limburgse zender L1 begon de brand in de sauna. De brandweer rukte met groot materieel uit en had de brand rond 21:45 uur onder controle.

Het gebouw is volledig verwoest. De politie en brandweer hebben omwonenden gewaarschuwd om ramen en deuren gesloten te houden vanwege gevaarlijke stoffen.
